Grand Canyon Float Tours Can Be Reached by Plane Or by Coach

There is probably no better way to experience the majesty of one of the world's most fascinating natural wonders than on Grand Canyon float tours. Gliding down the Colorado River you can really get a feel for the size of it which cannot be captured on film. There are many ways to get to the river pontoons but one of the best tours will fly you in and then take you back by bus so that you can also stop off Cameron Trading Post.

Flights will leave from Grand Canyon airport which is in the south rim region. From here you will head east over old Navajo country and the painted deserts. After a half and hour flight you will land at Page AZ.

From here you will be transported by Jeep to Antelope Canyon. This is one of the unique features of the region that are truly worth seeing. Narrow channels cut between the rocks open up spaces though which you can walk and create an almost dream like world.

Continuing on with the Jeeps you will then be taken to the Glen Canyon Dam. This in itself is a sight worth seeing and after a two mile trip through a tunnel you arrive at the river bank where your Grand Canyon float tour will begin. When you emerge from the tunnel you will be at the base of the dam which towers 71 stories above you.

If you are not going to take the flight tour then you can take a coach tour to this point. This will give you a chance to stop at Glen Canyon Recreational Area. Both the coach drivers and river guides are very knowledgeable about the area and its history and geography. Through the day you will not just get to enjoy spectacular scenery but fascinating information too.

Grand Canyon float tours slowly meander down the river for over 15 miles. This really gives you a chance to enjoy the peace and tranquility and the majestic sights. When you reach Horseshoe Bend you can disembark on the sandy bank. Here you can marvel at the ancient rock paintings and stop for a lunch break in the shade of the orange cliffs.

When lunch is done you will continue on to Lee's Ferry which features and old fort and trading post. This is the end of the Grand Canyon float tour and from here you will embark by coach for Las Vegas. This will be the means of returning whether you came by plane or bus.

There are stops where you will be able to swim so wear your bathing costume under your clothes. You will also spend a lot of time in the hot sun so bring a wide rim hat and sun screen and wear long sleeved shirts. The tour should also provide enough water to drink.

This is a great tour for families with kids over four. Plane or Jeep tours will normally require a minimum group of four people. If you are in Las Vegas for a holiday it would definitely be worth adding Grand Canyon float tours to the itinerary.
